STOP THE “MYSTERY TAX”
Progressive Democrats in Montpelier are giving an unelected board the power to create a new CARBON TAX without knowing how much it will cost, how it will be applied, or who it will affect. All taxes should come back to the Legislature so they can represent the will of the people, and the Governor can have input on how new programs are to be applied. Don’t let Democrats shortcut Democracy by adding new taxation without representation!
H.715 also known as the “Clean Heat Standard” would create a new tax on home heating fuels like natural gas, propane and heating oil - something every Vermont needs to get through the harsh Vermont winters. Alternative heat sources, like heat pumps don’t work on Vermont’s coldest days, and this new tax would make it more expensive to heat a home in Vermont - but no one knows by how much. Not even the legislators who voted for it!
Join us in signing the petition to tell Gov. Scott to veto this new tax at a time when many Vermonters are still struggling. And tell the legislature to sustain his veto, and go back to the drawing board until they actually know how much our taxes will go up!
