Pomfret, VT (May 26, 2016) – Small businessman Scott Milne announced he will file petitions later today with the Vermont Secretary of State to qualify him for the August Republican primary ballot for U.S. Senate. Milne will continue to talk with Vermonters as he explores a potential candidacy, and plans to make a formal announcement of his intentions in July.
“Patrick Leahy has been in the U.S. Senate for 42 years – since the Ford Pinto was the best-selling car in America – and longer than any other senator,” said Milne. “He has never had a real job and half of the population of Vermont was not born when he arrived in Washington, D.C. He is the definition of a career politician, and I believe career politicians are why our country is in the sad condition it is in. I believe he needs a vacation and I’d be honored to help him plan it.”
