Dorothy and I extend our most sincere, heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Marselis “Div” Parsons.

For many years Marselis collected and reported the news in Vermont. He was a tough interview — I’ve been on the receiving end of more than one — and that tenacity was reflected in the quality and accuracy of his reporting.

From his first day at WCAX in 1967, to his last on air just a few years ago, his keen sense for news and the narratives of our Vermont life enriched our lives. He also recruited and trained some of Vermont’s finest reporters, many of whom have gone on to expand their contribution to Vermont in other fields.

A sailor, fireman and friend he will be missed by many. We can all take comfort in knowing he had a profoundly positive impact on the state he loved.
