MONTPELIER, Vt. -Republican leaders in the Legislature are calling for a federal investigation into the contractor that developed Vermont’s online health exchange.Vermont Health Connect was launched in October, but still is not fully functional and may not be for several more months.

The website was built by CGI Technologies under an $80 million contract.

The Republicans are pointing to allegations raised in a recent a Newsweek article that CGI staged a demonstration last summer that led state officials to believe the website was further along in development than it really was. Republican leaders have asked the U.S. attorney to investigate whether CGI committed an act of fraud. GOP lawmakers are also calling for a one-year delay in implementing the health exchange.
