Parent Announces Bid for State House

ST. ALBANS CITY– Corey Parent announced today that he will seek a seat in the Vermont House of Representatives for the Franklin 3-1 district.  The Franklin 3-1 district represents all of St. Albans City and the southeastern tier of St. Albans Town.

“I am excited about the opportunity this campaign offers to discuss how we can make St. Albans a better place to live and raise a family.  A part from my family, this community has been the most influential factor in who I am today,” Parent said.

Parent says his campaign will focus on economic development, making Vermont an affordable place to live for young and working families, and making our community safer by working to confront St. Albans’ and Vermont’s opiate epidemic.

“As someone who grew up in St. Albans, I know how hard it can be to find a good job, how hard it can be to afford to live here, and how critical it is that the Representative from St. Albans lead on the state’s opiate epidemic.”

Parent stated, “We need to be able to make Vermont a place where businesses want to invest.  We need to change the anti-business, tax-first culture in Montpelier in order to build a sustainable economy for this generation and the next.”

Parent’s candidacy has already received the support of local legislative leaders.

Rep. Lynn Dickinson (R – St. Albans Town, Franklin 3-2), “I am proud to support Corey’s campaign for State Representative.  I know he will be a strong voice for fiscal restraint, job growth and responsible economic development,” Dickinson said.

Former State Representative and current State Senate Candidate Dustin Degree, “I’m confident that Corey has the know-how and passion to be an effective leader for the past, present and future of our community,” Degree said. “We need, — desperately, legislators who can bring balance to Montpelier, Corey will do just that.”

Parent, was born and raised in St. Albans City.  He attended St. Albans City Elementary School and BFA, before St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY, where he earned a degree in Economics.  Parent currently works as a Business and Process Improvement Analyst at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, VT.  He is a volunteer coach for the 5th and 6th grade St. Albans Steeler football team.
